What are the benefits and drawbacks of an open grant proposal standard for decentralized science?
I really like David Lang’s idea for an open grant proposal standard from his post, DeSci Musings, for scientific funding. Such a standard would make it easier for scientists to request funding from multiple Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) at a time (even possibly a council of DAOs), and would free up time spent drafting proposals towards doing more research. Additionally, it would help push Decentralized Science (DeSci) more towards standards-setting, rather than developing platforms.
Some of my questions regarding such a standard are:
What should be included in this standard?
Will this make it easier for researchers to apply to multiple funding organizations?
How to raise interest in adopting such a standard in DeSci?
Will such a standard increase participation in research?
